About this Exam

Please Note: You must complete the certification exam within 60 days of purchasing the exam. Please be sure to review the exam resources and study guide before registering for the exam. 

The Core Product Certified exam validates that candidates can build and configure collaborative work environments. Candidates should have an overall knowledge of the Core Product independent of a specific job role. Candidates should be able to create and organize information within a sheet, create and implement automated workflows, write formulas, build forms, and create and deploy reports and dashboards.

Qualified Candidate Description

Qualified candidates are licensed users that understand the data structure and labeling within Smartsheet. They are able to work with templates and can build simple solutions from scratch. They use formulas with well formed references and are comfortable with basic automation to communicate with team members and stakeholders.

Additionally the candidate should haveat least 3-6 months experience with the core product.

Domain 1 Sheets (16%, 10 questions)
  • 01.01 Create a new sheet or import a sheet from MS Excel, MS Project, Google Sheets or Atlassian Trello
  • 01.02 Create and manage columns to categorize data and optimize the display
  • 01.03 Format the appearance of cells to improve readability
  • 01.04 Add links and images for easy access by team members
  • 01.05 Use conditional formatting to highlight rows or cells based on specified criteria
  • 01.06 Create and use filters to display rows based on specific conditions
  • 01.07 Input and organize data within a sheet (eg, cell-linking, hierarchy, sheet summary)
  • 01.08 Export, publish, or print a sheet to share data with a broader audience
  • 01.09 Display data in different views to communicate with various team members ie Gantt with stakeholders, calendar with team leads, card with team members
Domain 2: Collaboration (15%, 9 Questions)
  • 02.01 Create and share a workspace or sheet
  • 02.02 Demonstrate understanding of when to create a new workspace or a subfolder within an existing workspace
  • 02.03 Assign permissions for a workspace and a sheet within that workspace to ensure that collaborators have appropriate access
  • 02.04 Add a comment to a row, cell, or sheet to start a conversation
  • 02.05 Add comments to existing conversations
  • 02.06 Add attachments to a row or a sheet to make files accessible
  • 02.07 Add attachments within size and volume limits

  • 07.03 Share and publish dashboards to make data available to stakeholders
  • 07.04 Prepare dashboards to use in presentations (eg, print to pdf, switch to presentation mode)

Exam results

The Core Product Certified exam is a pass or fail exam.  The exam results are reported as an overall score and a breakdown by domain.  The exam uses a compensatory scoring model, which means that you do not need to achieve a passing score in each section. You need to pass only the overall exam. An overall score of 73 (44/60) is required to pass the exam. 

Each section of the exam has a specific weighting, so some sections have more questions than others. The  score report contains general information that highlights your strengths and weaknesses. Use caution when interpreting section-level feedback.  

Scores specific to questions will not be reported.

Scores will be displayed at the end of the exam, and you can choose to print or email your score report. Scores cannot be used to evaluate against other candidates.
